ZIP Codes
Los Angeles County contains hundreds of ZIP Code areas covering incorporated cities, unincorporated communities, neighborhoods, institutional areas, and portions of ZIP Code areas that extend beyond the county. This page provides a geographic ZIP Code directory based on the County of Los Angeles master ZIP Code list, with each code matched to the cities, communities, neighborhoods, institutions, or other local areas associated with it.
The directory is intended for geographic and public-service reference. It is not a mailing-address validation tool and does not attempt to include every PO Box-only or other non-geographic postal code. ZIP Codes are established for mail delivery and do not necessarily follow incorporated city limits, community boundaries, supervisorial districts, or other government service jurisdictions.
Finding an Area by ZIP Code
Use the table to identify the general Los Angeles County areas associated with a ZIP Code. Some ZIP Codes are located entirely within one incorporated city, while others cross city boundaries or include both incorporated and unincorporated territory. A single ZIP Code may therefore be associated with several cities, neighborhoods, or communities.
Area names in the table describe geographic associations and should not automatically be treated as USPS mailing-city names. The city or community commonly associated with a ZIP Code may differ from the preferred city name used for a specific mailing address.
Some ZIP Codes are primarily associated with communities outside Los Angeles County but appear in the County’s geographic list because a portion of the ZIP Code area intersects Los Angeles County or one of the local areas identified by the County. These entries should not be interpreted as the USPS preferred mailing city for the ZIP Code.
ZIP Codes and Public Service Jurisdiction
A ZIP Code should not be used by itself to determine which government agency serves an address. Planning, building permits, code enforcement, law enforcement, road services, and other local functions can depend on whether the property is inside an incorporated city or an unincorporated part of Los Angeles County.
This distinction is especially important for ZIP Codes that cross jurisdictional boundaries. Two properties with the same ZIP Code may be served by different city or county agencies. When a service depends on location, the complete street address and actual municipal boundary should be used to determine jurisdiction.
The directory retains jurisdiction wording from the County source where it is provided. Incorporated municipalities are identified as “City of” where applicable, communities identified as part of the City of Los Angeles are marked accordingly, and areas specifically identified by the County as unincorporated retain that designation. The County source does not label every unincorporated community with the word “Unincorporated,” so the absence of that label should not be interpreted as evidence that an area is an incorporated city.

Why One ZIP Code Can Cover Several Areas
ZIP Code boundaries are established by the U.S. Postal Service for mail delivery rather than local government administration. As a result, a ZIP Code can include portions of several cities, neighborhoods, unincorporated communities, or supervisorial districts. In some cases, only a very small part of a listed city or community falls within a particular ZIP Code.
This also explains why some entries include both an incorporated city and an unincorporated area, or why a ZIP Code commonly associated with a neighboring county may still appear in the Los Angeles County geographic list. The ZIP Code describes postal geography and should not be interpreted as proof that every address within the code belongs to the same municipality or even the same county.
Using ZIP Codes for Mailing Addresses
The area names above are intended to help identify geographic locations within Los Angeles County. They are not a substitute for determining the correct mailing city for a specific street address. USPS mailing records can distinguish between preferred, acceptable, and other place names, and those postal designations do not always match neighborhood, community, or municipal names used locally.
For mail, deliveries, applications, or address verification, use the complete street address and the mailing city associated with that specific address. For county or city public services, verify the actual jurisdiction separately rather than relying on the ZIP Code or mailing city alone.
